Tanning Beds and UV Light

Just recently, as I believe I blogged about before, I decided to try out these tanning beds. Since I work from home, and its winter time, I wanted to get some color. Low and behold it actually costs a lot of money to go. $20 for minutes and $40 for lotion that would last me a crap of a long time. After talking to the employee there (smokin’ hot chick btw, hehe) she told me what stuff to use, etc. Oh and I had to buy the goggles, $10. I went every 2 days for about a month, and the only part of me that got slightly darker was my stomach. My face, legs, arms, back, etc. all white as before. And I’m not talkin’ like 3 min sessions every 2 days, like 15-20. And I used triple bronze stuff.

So what I am asking in this blog is, how much time do you have to go for in order to see results? I know everyones skin tones and pigments are different, but if I went any longer; that would be even more of a chance of adding to cancer. So these people I see walking around town who are brown as hell, they must sit in there for hours every week, for months on end. I spent $80 for no results, they must be in the thousands of dollars for that look, soaked in UV light. Can’t be good for you, and I know its not, but I need color!

I’ve read that it is also good for people with depression, enough UV light can boost your mood, even though you have goggles on. They say sunlight helps because it is absorbed through the eyes setting off the endorphins in your brain, thus making you happy. But they say UV light from these beds can do it aswell. Not that I’m a sad person or anything, I just found that interesting.

So in the end, I’m not going back for more minutes, even though I have used maybe 3 squirts of my ’small’ $40 tube of tanning cream. If I had seen good results, then maybe I would think about it even if it isn’t good for you. But, no results, no money from me.
