Review of A State of Trance: Episode 300

Last night a buddy of mine (Al, the guy in my photo’s section who’s car was all banged up) reviewed parts 1 and 2 of Armin van Buuren’s “A State Of Trance”. Being huge fans of his mixes and the trance genre, we listen to ASOT on a weekly basis. Almost every episode we try and catch.

After Episode 200 was released, it was our favorite mix since ASOT started. We listened to it for months on end, and still do from time to time. So after a much anticipated two years; 300 was abysmal.

Part 1 was a 2 hour mix by Armin himself, and that was fairly good. I enjoyed it, great mixing with some sick bass lines. Part 2 started out with 5 or 6 minutes of introductions and thank yous for ASOT from other DJ’s around the world. Boring. Followed by just, what’s the word I’m looking for; nothingness? It was just ordinary, same old trance. Nothing special, nothing even worth listening to. Armin didn’t do any of it, was 6 hours of other DJ’s colaborating. Oh and ontop of that, Part 2 was all live. Do you how annoying it is to hear people cheering and talking over already garbage trance, for 6 hours while you’re sitting at home just browsing the web? Just terrible.

So to recap, Part 1 is great. Part 2 should have just not been included in this mix all together.

After listening to ASOT for 4+ years, to hear ASOT 300 just really made me not want to tune in anymore.
