Review of Contact
Contact is one of my favorite movies. I think I have blogged about it before, but not on WordPress. Anyways last night I watched it again, on a 720P DVD version my buddy got for me (12gigs for 1 movie). Just great.
One of the reasons I like it so much, is because its science fiction! The greatest movie genre. One of the main things that sold me on this movie was mankind’s reaction to intelligent life, besides our own. In the movie, some of the key people for Washington either didn’t want to admit to the fact of intelligent life, or were so caught up in their own world, they didn’t want to.
It also arrose a controversial topic of religion. I myself personally believe in God and Jesus Christ as our savior, but I also believe in Science. Science is too intriguing to not look at.
Another great finish to the movie was that you never really see the Alien. I really hate watching a good science fiction movie, and then in the end they show the retarded CGI of an Alien (Signs, for example). Great special effects in the movie, and they did a great job of making you feel small, compared to the rest of the universe. One thing I will say, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it, but what I loved was the Alien telling Jodie Foster (Ellie) that they didn’t build the transit system, someone else did and they don’t know who. Meaning, that there is an even more advanced species than them. I mean they say the only way to travel from deep space to deep space is via worm holes, but no one can track where a worm hole will come out.
It’s a very good movie, and I hear the novel is great aswell, which the movie was based off of. I’m not much of a reader so I haven’t read it, although I would love to.
Contact was filmed in 1997 and to this day remains my favorite movie.
